About Synapse


Synapse was formed in January 1998 specifically to look after the IT needs of growing businesses, charities and ‘start ups’. Industry-leading knowledge in the areas of online data backup and Microsoft Exchange-based email solutions has meant that project work for large multi-nationals has also featured prominently in the client portfolio to date.

Steady growth since 1998 has necessitated partnership with a Network Operations Centre (NOC) in Mumbai, India in 2005, a datacentre in Dallas, USA in 2008, and the opening of a second technical centre in Bucharest, Romania in 2011.

The founders – having backgrounds in corporate IT departments - noticed that many of the best practices adopted by large organisations were virtually non-existent at the small business level. Experience showed that this was partly due to a lack of knowledge of what was readily possible in the corporate IT world at the same time as requiring a high capital investment. The idea behind Synapse was to combine the IT management of enough smaller enterprises in order to reap the benefits of a corporate-style infrastructure and comprehensive support network without the high initial costs.

Parties that have engaged with Synapse have gained the services of a “surrogate in-house IT department” and have learned to trust the brand-independent advice available. Synapse engineers are required to be personable as well as knowledgeable and are trained to “go the extra mile”. Through the use of the latest smart technologies, engineers in the UK, Romania and India can assist clients both on-site and/or remotely, as required.

The vast majority of Synapse’s services are available on a per-user, per-month basis with no minimum contract period. Where partnerships with other suppliers have been necessary to enable a wider product portfolio, Synapse have always entered into agreements with like-minded organisations.

From the outset, our philosophy has been to provide reliable, high-quality technical services coupled with friendly, knowledgeable, brand-independent advice. By offering ‘ad-hoc’ support to anyone we enable prospective clients to get to know us easily without any fuss.
